Are you experiencing back, neck or shoulder pain?

It is common for gardeners to experience pain caused by heavy or repetitive movements. Activities such as:

  • Picking up and carrying fertilizer bags

  • Bending over to do planting and weeding

  • Pushing, pulling, and twisting while using tools like shovels, rakes, and hedge trimmers

Physiotherapy and other rehabilitation focused practices may help to alleviate the pain temporarily, but often the injury is reoccurring unless you learn healthy movement practices.

Addresses pain at its root cause and prevent injuries.

Safe Movement for Gardeners teaches foundational movement principles based on the movements of Physically Intelligent individuals.

We have spent over a decade studying the movements of the uninjured person compared to a person that experiences common strain and sprain injuries.

In our Safe Movement for Gardeners resources, you will learn these principles and build habits that will change your movements and prevent regular strain and sprain injuries. The movements you will learn are specifically related to those common in gardening and backyard activities, but the principles apply to all areas of your life, including in your workplace or other activities that involve lifting and bending.

Why Safe Moves For Gardening

Provention has been providing manual handling and safe movement programmes to NZ and Australian organisations for the past 15 years.

Our core First Move programmes give individuals the skills to be physically intelligent and perform their day-to-day physical activities safely. The result being a reduction in strain-sprain related injuries and associated personal and company costs.

While conducting the First Move training within workplaces, we repeatedly got feedback on how practical and beneficial this information was for all the physical activities required of a ‘gardener’. Activities such as lifting bags of fertiliser, weeding, shovelling, trimming hedges, watering plants, trimming hedges, the list goes on.

So we launched Safe Moves for Gardeners as a consumer injury prevention resource.
